What is Muay Thai or Thai Boxing?
“Muay” translates into “Boxing” in Thai, so Muay Thai literally means Thai boxing. Muay Thai is a Stand-Up striking sport with two competitors throwing punches, elbows, knees and kicks at each other. Head Clinching, Leg Sweeps and Throws are also permitted in Muay Thai. Muay Thai is referred to the “Art of Eight Limbs” being fighters can strike with fists, elbows, knees, and shins.
Class Focus:
- Build a Foundation (Footwork, Elbows, Knees, Kick's & Punching),
- Striking Combinations (Continue to build on foundation and apply striking into combinations/techniques),
- Clinch Work (Controlling the Head of your Opponent to help open up striking opportunity/throws) - Pad Work (Build on Cardio and Foundation while executing: Elbows, Knees, Kick's & Punching)
